COMPARTE Dictionary

Value Chain (CV)

The process encompassing the entire Complete Economic Cycle (CEC) associated with a specific product or service, e.g., coffee, guinea pigs, textiles. Grouped into four types: agricultural, diversified agro-livestock, livestock, services, and manufacturing.

Social Center (CS)

A social organization within the Comparte network, with legal personality, that supports or promotes alternative economic initiatives in its surroundings.

Complete Economic Cycle (CEC)

All phases constituting the full economic-productive activity: production, collection, transformation, commercialization, financing, and social reinvestment.

COMPARTE

A Learning and Action Community aimed at generating development alternatives.

Planning Committee (CP)

Comparte’s committee responsible for driving the collective reflection and construction process of the Strategic Planning 2024-2027 (PE COMPARTE).

Multi-Actor Approach

A strategy promoting the creation of strategic alliances with diverse actors who can contribute from their fields of expertise and knowledge to the sustainability of economic-productive initiatives. It includes NGOs, universities, public institutions, companies, funders, consumers, investors, other networks, etc.

Gender Equity

A vehicle to achieve equality between women and men by incorporating specific measures for the empowerment of women that compensate for historical and social disadvantages. This means new models and initiatives should consider the different starting conditions of men and women and the effects they will have on each group, ensuring options that allow both to develop equally and with the same opportunities.

Stage

Refers to the institutional phase of each initiative: creation, growth, and consolidation.

Economic-Productive Initiative

Economic-productive activity carried out by one or more producer organizations. In some cases, the Social Center may also be a partner in the initiative.

COMPARTE Economic-Productive Initiatives

These are the initiatives supported by social centers applying COMPARTE’s network knowledge, learnings, methodologies, and tools.

Producer Organization (OP)

Any type of organized group, supported by a Comparte Social Center, developing an economic-productive initiative in one or more stages of the complete economic cycle. They may have legal personality (cooperative, social enterprise) or not (association of producer families, organized groups, etc.).

COMPARTE Methodological Proposal (PMC)

Tools, methodologies, and work approaches guiding the articulated work we carry out at the network/SC/PO levels to improve and expand the impact of initiatives in the territory.

Territory

A set of natural assets, cultures, and inhabitants populating a specific area. It is the geographic context in which economic-productive initiatives develop and the field of action for regional-building agents within the multi-actor approach. It may cover various levels, such as communities, municipalities, provinces, or regions, among others.
